“We really didn’t would like Jetsons and flying cars and stuff with this game, ” he informs PopMech. “We wanted it to become based on technologies which are happening today in the lab that people felt might actually get out into real life. ”
The SimCity team looked over basic societal needs that it's still around in the following 50 years, like energy, water, sanitation, and transport. With these four constants in your mind, Librande tried to determine what these technologies might look like later on.
For power, Librande was inspired through the National Ignition Facility (NIF) from Lawrence Livermore National Lab near his Silicon Area home.
